Hi to you reading this👋, God bless you.
It’s been a while of not sharing anything personal. My walk with God has been really bumpy for the past two years and I have had so much questions and life battles. But God’s love never failed me. He has been restoring and reviving and I am eternally grateful.
For now, let me focus on the Topic “UNEXPECTED VERSE” as my heading says.
A couple of days ago, someone sent a text to check up on me. As always, I was happy he checked up on me (by extension, his family did) as I do check up on them also.
But after the chat, a story was laid in my heart with a couple of words accompanying it. The story of the wise men and Herod. My mind twitched/ short circuited so to say because I couldn’t tell where that was coming from. So I picked up my phone to check on the story
The story can be found in Matthew 2:1-12. As I read, verse 8 got stuck in my heart.
8 KJV:And he sent them to Bethlehem, and said, Go and search diligently for the young child; and when ye have found him, bring me word again, that I may come and worship him also. From the multiple translation app bible
You would almost think that Herod had genuine concerns for the child, revered Him and was ready to worship Him as he directed the Wise men to bring more information about the location of the child when they found him. But as we read further, we discover that Herod had ill intentions.
His jealous and envious motivated intentions were not known to the Wise men except for the revelation of this through an Angel of the Lord. Else, they would have gone back to Herod; putting the child in harm’s way.
I am reminded of the word of God that says
Jer 17:9 KJV:The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?
And see what it says in the next verse
10 KJV:I the Lord search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.
As human, we cannot always know the intentions of people towards us and therefore we need divine backing from God to avoid being swallowed by the evil vices of people.
I had intention of travelling to go and visit the said person and his family, also say hi to some of my friend and get my belongings but something has been weighing me down from travelling. But I had still made up my mind to travel before that little chat.
After that chat when I had inform him that I wasn’t sure of visiting but would make out time, the tone of the message changed. I just can’t describe it. But something said don’t travel.
That was how I cancelled my plans to travel. Now, I am not saying that they are evil because this family has come to become like mine in the past one year of working with them before I moved. Perhaps, one or two other people may have ill intentions against me due to the bond I share with the family. I just don’t know. Let me stop trying to wrap my head around it.
I trust God and I’ll leave everything to Him. However, the most important lesson I keep learning is that we need God’s guidance to triumph.
No matter how technologically advance or evolved we think this society/world has become and how absurd we think it is for people to bear ill grudges/ intentions toward us enough to harm, we need God’s backing.
When we believe and trust Him, He guides and protects us.
