CALLED OUT FOR THE FIRST TIME

img_20170205_141408.jpgWe must take caution else we become the devils fools!

I was usually desperate to hear a man of God speak about me, see into my future and prophecy about it; but somehow it never happened. The church I grew up in had visiting pastors that conducted revival services for the church. During the course of these services, I would see these men of God call out people and lay hands on them but somehow, I always got skipped. So I had this feeling that there was something wrong with me. Fast forward years later after I had gotten over that desperation and actually grew more in Christ, I get called out in a church I visited for the first time.

Few Sundays ago, I and my sister visited a church and we had this strange experience. Far into the service while prayers were on going, we heard the man of God walking toward our direction since he spoke into a mic. So I opened my eyes! I would also assume that those around that parameter did the same if not the whole church. Then he pointed towards me and my sister and said we should come to the altar. I was stunned, confused and began questioning the mini drama that was unfolding. Anyways, we obeyed and went to the alter. He said certain things which were somewhat true but to me vague. Then he went on to lay his hands on both of our heads and prayed for us but I suddenly became so grieved in my spirit.

Why was I grieved?  Maybe because my spirit just did not agree with something. I would definitely not tempt myself by making allegations of who has the spirit of God and who doesn’t. I am no judge of that but the bible admonishes me in 1John 4:1, not to believe all spirit but test them.

After the whole service, I laid hands on my self and sincerely prayed over my life and equally interceded big sister 1Jhn 4:4. I believe that there are lessons that accompany every life journey! So hear me out!

We are more vulnerable in our desperate state so be careful and alert! Many people are so desperate to hear from men of God these days that they don’t hear that God is speaking to them directly or through other things or people they may consider ‘foolish or unwise’. Worse still, this African recession coupled with bad and corrupt governance isn’t making the situation any easier. Many therefore end up in the hands of fake pastors or prophets that falsely promise the worlds riches to desperate congregants.

In our African society, I see and hear about strange miracles from ‘powerful’ men of God. For example, some men of God ask their member to drink petrol that miraculously turned into sweet wine or water, some spray insecticide on members as healing remedy, some touch members in private areas, attempting to walk on sea, selling the ‘blood of Jesus’ and anointed water at a very high price; just to name a few. Worse still, I see people travel thousands of miles in search of a miracle they never get free of charge. I see many men of God are beginning to turn the church into a business ground because they know how desperate and gullible people can be.

Some of these so called ‘men of God’ are destiny destroyers, home wreckers, in fact, the devils employees. This definitely applies to many other places around the world! Religion now kills people more than it claims to heal.

No doubt there are genuine men of God out there. But unless one learns to seek the face of God first before seeking for miracles, the person easily set themselves up for disappointment.

  1. A lot of fake stuff out there. This is why it is so important for us to remain in prayer. God never intended us not to commune with Him on a regular basis. We need HIM. There is a lot of good too. The enemy knows his time is short thus the reason for all the chaos and counterfeit. Lord, help us to be prayerfully alert!

Thank you for inspiring and opening our understanding to the evil activities that camouflage as that of light in our churches. This is why we need the spirit of discernment and this can only happen if we decide to know God ourselves otherwise we will get lost in the crowd of miracle -seekers instead of becoming God-chasers. Grace, continue to grow in Christ’s love, grace and mercy. Just like you, I am careful about visiting churches I am not familiar or comfortable with in my spirit. May our hearts be opened to actively stand as the communication point between us and God in Jesus’ name.

  3. Wow thanks for sharing I personally have had those moments where I needed someone to speak into my life but for some reason I would always get missed, God wanted me to depend on Him seek Him first it actually makes you grow up as a believer because you get less dependent on Man and get first hand information from our source, we need God more and to grow more in our Spiritual sensitivity coz honestly there is even worse to come it’s written in the Word that these things shall happen in the last days.

This is a good one! and the part where if the Pastor doesn’t call you and say something about you gets you thinking there is something wrong with you… I can totally relate.
But on a more serious note a lot of people desperate for many things in life end up being deceived by some men of God.
We all must be vigilant and keep in mind that, God can equally speak to us individually and not always through a “Moses” or “Aaron”.
    Thanks for sharing dear

  5. Great Writing and glad to read your blogpost again.Thank God for giving you wisdom and the spirit of discernment in this situation. One of the truths and tragedy of our time is that our world is in deep need-financially,spiritually,materially.I see it everyday all around me.People are desperately seeking for solution to their problems wherever and however-which by the way,is a natural human response. That said,I believe it is the responsibility of religious leaders to point people to Jesus Christ and not to take advantage of their desperate quest for solution.

Amen! on point! Yes the hardship is real and like you have pointed out, it is a natural human response to seek for solution. May God help us all so that we do not fall into the hands of false preachers…

  6. Hi Misggrace, I have been thinking of you and wishing you well as I haven’t seen you post recently. I think you bring up some great points on reasons to be wary while dealing with the Church, and “men of God” and not directly with God. I believe what the Church can do is proclaim the Gospel, meaning, the truth (God) is within you and can set you free. Be well and God bless you, sister.

  7. Some of them are not worth calling Men of God. Their deception is appalling. Some of the things that I’ve read and seen that ‘so-called’ men of God are doing is simply incredulous. Thank God for maturity in Christ.

Honestly, they are not worthy to be called ‘men of God’ … I pray that many realises that God does not only speak to few people but to all His children. We don’t find fulfillment in the words of ministers but in the word of God. May God help us.. much love Jacqueline 😄🌸

  8. Nice to read your post again ,Grace .. A contemporary write , so true! People believing in whatever in the name of religion is actually nothing but the fear for the calamity if they don’t ! Precisely therefore pseudo Gods thrive every part of the world . Where is need when we can directly make a connect with the Father ! May the true knowledge of knowing the self n HIM enlighten all of us ! Love.Blessings.

Amen! You are right on point! People no longer believe they can directly communixate with their maker and their make to them, therefore they only wait on religious ministers to do to. We accept everything they throw at us even if it is not from God. Thanks Kamakhya! oo how I’ve missed your writings… it’s been a bit stormy and I had to try find that calmness again 😃😃… God bless you my good friend 😄🌸

This is very true and part of why I believe Church should be taxed. But that is a discussion for another day.
